The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in South Dakota has a reputation of fine horses and riders. Jackie Young exhibits just that and is defending her Indian National Finals Championship in ladies barrel racing competition. Jackie defeated a very talented field to earn the 2014 title. This champion took the time to share about her life as a working ranch cowgirl, mother and distinguished champion among champions.
The world is a better place when people like Mike Herman try to improve the lives of the youth in our society. Michael is the executive director of the Aberdeen South Dakota Boys and Girls Clubs of America. This organization is available to Indian Country. Mike explains the mission statement of the organization and his efforts in his community that are available to communities across the continent.
It is fun to watch an individual mature as a person and better yet, succeed in their chosen field. We have watched Nathan Schaper do just that, as he enjoys his fourth season on tour with the Professional Bull Riders. Nathan grew up in the Dakotas and took the time to visit during a PBR Tour stop in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
This week we digress, prior to the 2014 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, with Navajo team roping star, Erich Rogers. Erich finished 2nd for the PRCA season standings in the event with more contestants than any. We visit with this very composed, soft spoken gentleman, that can and will take your money with a rope in his hand.
