If you are going to do it you might as well be great at it”. Profound words of 4X Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, Bull Riding World Champion, JW Harris. Harris does not just say the words on his heart, he lives them. An interesting interview with a cowboy that has it on his mind to beat 8X World Champion, Donnie Gays record in Pro Rodeo’s bull riding.
Team 4 Bears Casino member Clay Tryan of Montana earned his second PRCA Team Roping World Championship in 2013. An amazing feat considering the sheer numbers of contestants in his event. Tryan credits practice time and support from family and Montana for his success. A very nice interview from a classy man for this weeks episode of Word With A Champ for NV1 radio network.
Pete Burns made as big a difference in my life as anyone could. I am one of many men and women whom can say the same. For me it was a place to grow in our beloved state, at the University of Wyoming. Pete provided bucking horses and bulls… and a place to ride. I even got to produce an event and announce my first time there. Pete shared his beautiful ranch with me, every time, I asked if I could go ride and hunt. He and his sons have always treated me like a brother, in good, and some tough aspects of my experiences along the way. He was quick to provide me with recommendations, get me next to people and allow me opportunities that were out of my reach. He made sure I was able to obtain my dream to return and graduate from college. Most of all Pete was my friend and a mentor that was one of the most gentle and kind individuals I have ever met. I still benefit from his influence on me, these many years later that have gone so fast. I am sure God will open the gates of heaven to wide open spaces for this cowboy friend of ours. Thank you Pete Burns, may God bless you and your family for generations to come.
PRCA 2013 World Champion Tie Down Roper Shane Hanchy is our guest today for NV1 Radio Network. Shane weighs 145 lbs, rode a borrowed horse through the end of the season and beat the top 15 in the world at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. The southern gentleman from Lake Charles Louisiana will represent the gold buckle and his home state while defending his title.
Dustin Flundra, 3X Canadian Champion Saddle Bronc Rider, of Pincer Creek, Alberta Canada, is our guest on this weeks episode of Word With A Champ for NV1 Radio Network. Dustin remembers the first bucking horse he got on, 13 Canadian and 2 Wrangler National Finals Rodeos ago. His perception of the art of riding bucking horses has made him not only a tremendous study of the sport, but a proficient coach and mentor to the next generation of rodeo athletes. Thanks to people like Dustin Flundra, the present and future of rodeo looks very bright.
Seven time Wrangler National Finals Bill Riding Qualifier Steve Woolsey of Payson Utah is our guest today. Steve visits about his upbringing with animals and his life today. A modest cowboy suggest youth “dream and dream big and don’t be afraid to go after what you want.
PRCA World Champion Steer Wrestler, Hunter Cure of Holiday, Texas won his title in one of the tightest competitions in ProRodeo history. A very modest man that credits his friend and hazer, Riley Duvall and his team of horses that he helped develop. Word With a Champ is pleased to have this genuine person and cowboy visit with us for NV1 Radio Network.
Four-time World Champion Sherry Cervi (Marana, AZ) is the winningest barrel racer of all time with more than $2.3 million in career earnings. Cervi has qualified for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and amazing 16 times and won her World Titles in 1995, 1999, 2010 and 2013 recently in Las Vegas. Cervi is on Team Justin Boots and was also an all-conference basketball player in high school. Troy Heinart is of the Sichangu Lakota people on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in south central, South Dakota. Troy is a wrestling coach, business man and a cowboy that is now running for senate for his home district. I think this is an interesting and inspirational interview by Troy’s words that are on his mind, one that will make a difference in a political office.
President of the Oglala Lakota, Brian Brewer took the time to sit down and visit about his extraordinary life as a teacher, Lakota Nation Invitational originator and elected leader of his tribe. This is a story that could have many chapters, yet Brian’s heart is obviously big in the few minutes we have with him. Word With A Champ is honored to have a man of this nature to share his mind with us.
